These Boots 02:46
These boots on my feet, for eight long years they hit these streets, going nowhere, I’ve been following my dreams, but now I chase them through these streets and I wake up nowhere, They say I’ve got no right to frown, but don’t they wonder how that sounds, to one who’s nowhere, Sure I’m strumming my guitar, but I’m tired of hanging round in bars, it gets you know where, So I’m up, and I’m headed for the borderline, these boots on my feet, won’t accept defeat, And I’m up, and searching for the better times, These boots’ll take me there, Lord knows I don’t know where And I’m just to numb to care, but I’m headed somewhere, Am I looking like a heel, cause that’s how I have come to feel, by getting nowhere, Well my feet are black and blue, and my soul is worn straight through, and still I’m nowhere, They say I’ve got no right to frown, "you lost your pride, you broke your crown", but its gets 'em nowhere And sure I’m strumming my guitar, I’m tired of hanging round in bars, it gets you nowhere So I’m up, and I’m headed for the borderline, these boots on my feet, won’t accept defeat, And I’m up, and searching for the better times, These boots’ll take me there, Lord knows I don’t know where And I’m just to numb to care, but I’m headed somewhere,

about

This record was created and funded independently over and two and a half year period form April 2011 to August 2014. In the majority, the record was written while, about, or influenced by wayfaring. Towards the end of the process the machine used to capture and reproduce the music was irreversibly damaged. Nothing essential to the record was lost, perhaps barring time, and it sat in reverie, but incomplete. After much discourse litigation to ward the group that damaged the recording device was instigated. Nine months later the claim was settled, the equipment replaced, and the project resumed. The album was sewn up in short order as the cuts that accompany this text. The narratives within were stirred up by experiences in settings form the murky harbors of the maritime's, to the wild inland's of the Canadian territories, form the jagged hills of the eastern north-lands, to the river valleys that wind through the deep south. At the time of tracking the songs had matured somewhat, and though not brand-new, to me they wax nostalgia for a time that was full of adventure, challenge, excitement and perseverance.

As stated by J.M. Scott, "there are times when even the most cynical mind must acknowledge the romance of travel". This recording is an attempt to commensurate that sentiment. I am hopeful that we succeeded in doing so and am sanguine toward the goal of creating something that is as entertaining and provoking on the far side of the speakers as it was in front of the microphone. Thanks for listening
